Dear Fellow Professional,

Thank you for your interest in the European Fastener Distribution Association. Founded in September 2000, the EFDA today acts as the umbrella association for 4 national European fastener-distribution organisations: BAFD-Great Britain, FDS-Germany, Prismefix-France, UDIB-Italy and Spain. Our members are about 170 stock-keeping, innovative and top performing distributors with sales of approx. € 3.2 Billion and affiliates in numerous countries of the world.

Whilst the reality of a common European market and its free flow of goods, information, people and capital across borders, opens up so many opportunities, it also poses some challanges to our members. EFDA, as a common European platform, aims to promote common interests of the national organisations.

Over the past decade, the fastener distribution industry has undergone a dynamic development, based on its core competencies: closeness to the customer and guaranteed availability of a broad variety of products as well as its universally accepted high quality. Today, the associate members have demonstrated that they can take the role as an integrated logistic partner for their customers, sourcing worldwide for the best fitting product, whether for OEM, industrial, service or retail sector customers.

In this role, the member companies are successfully supporting their customers to achieve rationalization effects, to reduce in process costs and hereby enhance their competitiveness.

Rapid internationalisation of the market brings with it wishes for protection on a national scale and creates an excess of rules and regulations which may be contrary to the basic idea of free entrepreneurship that has enabled Europe to become part of a global market based on open and fair trade. More recent developments in the global economy have brought new challanges to members and will no doubt in time reshape our marketplace. EFDA is the European platform to represent members interest through these difficult times.
